Bots vs bots makes hiring landscape increasing inhospitable for candidates and companies alike

ree

The rise of artificial intelligence in the job market has led to a bot versus bot war, leaving both job seekers and employers frustrated with the hiring process. Candidates, disillusioned with the lack of response from corporate hiring software, are now turning to AI tools to craft cover letters, résumés, and even automate job applications, the Wall Street Journal reports. In response, companies are deploying their own bots to sort through the influx of applications, further complicating the hiring landscape.

This AI arms race has resulted in a surge of applications for recruiters to review, with some companies reporting a 71% increase in the number of applications per open position. To combat this, employers are introducing new AI tools to identify the most suitable candidates based on skills and job requirements. However, the reliance on these tools has led to concerns about the accuracy of candidate assessments and the potential for qualified applicants to slip through the cracks.

As the use of AI in the hiring process continues to grow, both job seekers and employers are grappling with the challenges it presents. Candidates feel frustrated and defeated when their applications go unanswered, while hiring managers struggle to trust the results of AI-enhanced applications and résumés. The global market for recruitment software is expected to reach nearly $3.1 billion by 2025, but the increasing reliance on bots in the hiring process may ultimately lead to a less effective and more inhospitable job market for all parties involved.
