Tech disrupts pre-pandemic C-Suite order

C-suite is undergoing a significant shift in priorities and prominence amid AI-driven disruption to organizations, which HCI has previously discussed. While the majority of enterprises currently task their CIOs or CTOs with leading AI initiatives, the increasing pervasiveness of the technology is forcing organizations to adjust their leadership strategies

As AI becomes more deeply integrated into every aspect of the business, the role of the chief AI officer may evolve, much like the chief digital officer role did in the past, to ensure that the technology is effectively leveraged across all functions. However, the specific title and level of the person responsible for orchestrating AI within an organization may vary depending on the company's unique needs and structure.

The partnership between CFOs and CIOs is especially critical for success given the rise in importance and data-centric nature of both roles. A recent Rimini Street report, based on a survey of nearly 3,000 CFOs and CIOs, found that while 86% of respondents believe their relationship has grown stronger in the face of uncertainty, there are still areas where greater alignment is needed.

To foster better communication and decision-making, CFOs and CIOs must work to bridge the gap in their understanding of each other's goals and concerns, with CFOs becoming more technology-savvy and CIOs becoming more business-savvy. By doing so, they can ensure that technology investments are optimized to deliver the best possible returns for the business.
